The major project that I worked on while a technical documents specialist at Wencor was helping the organization achieve ODA status with the FAA. This designation with the FAA was a new program launched by the FAA. I was tasked with researching the requirements outlined by the FAA and managing the project of meeting those requirements as an organization. This designation would allow parts made by Wencor to be certified for airworthiness more quickly allowing the company to bring parts to market faster.
Managing this project meant working closely with contacts in engineering, product development, and manufacturing, as well as the local FAA point of contact. In addition to successfully attaining the ODA status from the FAA, the other major output from this project was an official ODA manual that I wrote and assembled outlining the procedures and processes Wencor would take as a manufacturer to meet FAA guidelines. Full document is included below (WARNING, the full document is >100 pages).
